Bike Friendly Durham
This past Monday Steve Clark, Bicycle Friendly Community Specialist with the League of American Bicyclists, visited Durham (currently a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community). As part of this visit we had the privilege of joining Steve for a group bike ride with representatives from Bike Durham, the East Coast Greenway Alliance, Durham Community Trail Watch, Downtown Durham Inc., the Durham City Transportation Dept., Duke University, the Durham Bike Co-Op, the Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission, the Safe Routes to School National Partnership and City Councilman Steve Schewel for a hands-on technical assessment of Durham’s bicycle infrastructure. Following the ride, Steve made a public presentation (youtu.be/tMY14R13a2o) to discuss best practices from across the country and provide feedback on how Durham can improve upon its bicycling infrastructure and culture. Durham has lots of room for that improvement, and lots of people interested in working towards it. Thanks @bfc_Steve for your time and insight.
